Training Services & Licensure
DSTA provides state-approved security training to assist individuals in obtaining their Florida Class "D" (Unarmed) and Class "G" (Armed) security licenses. Successful completion of our courses provides the necessary certificate to apply for your license; however, DSTA does not guarantee the issuance of a state license. The final decision rests entirely with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) Division of Licensing. All instruction and testing are conducted strictly in English.
Registration and Payments
Deposits: All course registrations require payment in full.
Accepted Methods: We accept major Credit/Debit cards, Money Orders, and Cash.
State Fees: DSTA course costs cover training only. FDACS state application fees are separate and payable directly to the State of Florida.
Attendance and Conduct
Mandatory classroom presence is required by statutory law (F.S. 493.6100). Students must complete all 40 hours for Class D and 28 hours for Class G to receive certification. Students are expected to maintain professional behavior at all times. DSTA reserves the right to dismiss any student without a refund for unsafe behavior (especially on the firearms range), disruption, or violation of state regulations.
Online "Live Instructor-Led" Classes
Students enrolling in online training must ensure they have a stable internet connection, a working webcam, and a quiet environment. Students must remain visible on camera during all required instructional hours to verify attendance for FDACS compliance.
3. Refund & Cancellation Policy
Cancellation of Course
Cancellation requires a minimum of five (5) business days before the course start date in order to receive a refund. A $25 admin fee, and any credit card fees will be deducted. If a request to cancel is made within five (5) days of the course, no refund will be granted.
Course Rescheduling or Transferring
A student may reschedule or transfer their registration to the following class, within 30 days, if requested three (3) business days before the course date. If a request to reschedule is within three (3) business days, the weekend before, or the morning of the class, no rescheduling opportunity will be granted.
Student Responsibility
Refunds will not be issued due to failure to attend, incomplete participation, or failure to pass the final exam. Once a course has started, no refund is available.
Retesting Policy
Students who do not pass the course exam may retake the exam via Proctored Exam for $55 paid directly to the proctor. This is a one-time opportunity to be completed within 30 days of the original course.
Medical Issues
Individuals who become sick before or during an in-person Class D unarmed security course may complete the remainder of the course via our Live Instructor-Led ONLINE platform and will be required to take the Proctored Exam for $55 paid directly. No portion of the in-person course will be refunded.(Note: Firearms/Range training for Class G must be completed in-person).
Disability Accommodations
Students requesting accommodations for documented disabilities must submit proper documentation prior to the start of the course. Accommodations cannot be retroactively applied and failure to disclose needs in advance does not qualify as grounds for a refund.
Course Cancellations by DSTA
In the rare event that a course is cancelled or rescheduled by DSTA, students will be offered a transfer to a future class date or a full refund. All other circumstances will be handled on an individual basis with proper documentation, though refunds will generally not be provided outside of these stated terms.
